• Member of the Cupressaceae (cypress family) with common relatives including giant sequoia, cypress, false-cypress, incense-cedar, arbor-vitae and juniper.
• Native to within 20 miles of the Pacific coast of the US from central California to Oregon.

Store wet or dry at 33-35F.

• Named after Sequoyah, son of an English trader and Cherokee mother and inventor of a syllabary for transcribing the Cherokee language.

Tingley and Prince (1990) showed that this species produces much ethylene, especially when not held at proper low temperatures. Therefore, storing it with ethylene sensitive flowers and greens is questionable unless proper low temperatures are strictly maintained.
